Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo Are Writing Marvel’s ‘X-Men’ Movie
With Marvel’s Multiverse Saga set to conclude with the events of Avengers: Secret Wars, fans are already beginning to look ahead to the MCU’s next chapter.
According to Kevin Feige, the post-Secret Wars MCU will focus on the X-Men, ushering in what is being called the Mutant Saga.
While details about what Marvel Studios has in store for its iconic team of mutants remain scarce, we previously learned that Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier would be involved.

Now, we know who is working on the film’s script.
The Team Behind ‘X-Men’
During a recent interview with Collider, Schreier revealed that Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear showrunner Joanna Calo are working on the script for X-Men.

According to Schreier, the duo “have come in and are working on a draft right now, which is really exciting to be able to put that group of people together again.”
The choice of Jin and Calo is particularly interesting, as both have previously collaborated with Schreier on Thunderbolts* and Beef.

The screenwriters, Schreier continued, are behind “two of the most interesting shows on television right now.”
“When you go back and read X-Men comics, there’s ideology but also interpersonal drama, almost of a soap opera quality. Having writers who understand both how to drive ideology from personal stakes, if we get that right, that’s what will feel most honest to what X-Men can be.”
