Is Jaimie Alexander Returning as Lady Sif in Loki?

A new photo posted on Jaimie Alexander’s Instagram account suggests that the actress might be reprising the role of Lady Sif in Marvel Studios’ Loki. And fans of the Asgardian warrior are excited about the possibility of the character’s return to the franchise, as Sif has not been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since her cameo appearance in Season 2 of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Lady Sif in Loki? Atlanta… Well, that might explain a lot.

Recently, the actress Jaimie Alexander took to Instagram to tell fans she was traveling to Atlanta. And, according to Comicbook.com, the image has fans wondering if she will be stepping back into her Asgardian boots once again since the Loki series is currently filming in the ATL.

Lady Sif and the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Jaimie Alexander’s last appearance in the MCU was almost five years ago. However, she first appeared in the MCU in 2011’s Thor as Lady Sif, one of the fiercest warriors in Asgard and the fourth member of the Warriors Three. Yes, you read that right. And it is thanks to Lady Sif, Volstagg, Fandral, and Hogun, that Thor survived and made it to the endgame.

Alexander’s character returned in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World and has not appeared on the big screen since that film.

However, True Believers, the movies were not the last appearance of Lady Sif, a friend of the S.H.I.E.L.D., in the MCU.

The Asgardian warrior also appeared on the small screen as a guest star during the first two seasons of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. On the small screen, Sif is sent to Earth to stop an Asgardian sorceress, Lorelei. Some truly epic action sequences occur when the two Asgardians must duel for humanity’s fate. And do not worry Ming-Na Wen fans, like a lot of great episodes of the show, the Cavalry steps in to lend a helping hand.

Since appearing on Phil Coulson and the Cavalry, the MCU has not acknowledged her absence over the last five years, despite another Thor movie being released during that time. In the cinematic universe, we currently have little idea of what Sif has been doing since 2015.

We do know that Thanos blipped her like so many other beloved characters, thanks to an interview the Huffington Post did with the Russo brothers.

Where’s Jaimie Alexander’s Sif?

However, Lady Sif’s appearance on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is not why Alexander has not returned to the movies. The truth is Jaimie Alexander has been busy filming a network television series, the NBC show Blindspot, and has not been able to return to the MCU. The actress is the lead in the series, and as a result, she has had a hectic filming schedule since 2015.

Because Taiki Waititi wanted to bring her back for Thor: Ragnarok but could not because of Alexander’s work schedule, we can guess her busy schedule is to blame for Sif’s absence from the big screen. And that may have been a blessing in disguise, considering the Warriors Three died early in the film.

Luckily, it seems that Lady Sif might be making her return sooner than expected as production on the mini-series continues in Atlanta. However, her casting in the show is not confirmed, and Marvel is notoriously fussy. That aside, the new image has not stopped fans from speculating that she will appear in the Disney+ show.
