Felicity Jones Won’t Rule Out Playing Black Cat Again
In an interview with Collider, Felicity Jones said that she wouldn’t rule out the possibility of playing the role of Black Cat again – and considering how many characters from the larger Spider-Verse will appear in the next MCU Spider-Man movie, that may prove significant!
Felicity Jones Played Felicia in The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Jones first appeared in the role of Felicia Hardy (A.K.A. the Black Cat) in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In that movie, which featured Andrew Garfield as the eponymous web-slinger, Hardy made an appearance. Still, the character never donned the costume and revealed herself to be Black Cat.
Presumably, like the Sinister 6, whose groundwork was laid in that movie, Black Cat would have played a larger role in Amazing Spider-Man sequels. However, that movie series ended after the second entry, making way for Tom Holland to step into the MCU’s central Spider-Man role in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.
Spider-Man 3 Enters the Spider-Verse
With the third solo Spider-Man movie starring Holland on the way, Marvel Studios has revealed that previous on-screen adaptations would play into the trilogy’s final act. In addition to previous Peter Parkers, Garfield and Tobey Maguire, making appearances in the movie, some of the earlier movies’ villains will also be returning.
So far, Marvel and Sony have already announced that Jamie Foxx is returning as Electro (a role he originated in Amazing Spider-Man 2). Additionally, Alfred Molina is reprising the role of Doctor Octopus (a role he first played in 2004’s Spider-Man 2).
Felicity Jones Eager to Explore Black Cat Role
With all these returning Spider-Characters, is it possible we might see Jones return to Hardy’s role in a future movie? The actress certainly hopes fans will get to see more of her character, the Black Cat!
In the interview with Collider, Jones spoke about which aspects of the Black Cat role she hopes the explore more, saying:
[What] I always liked about that character was the physicality. I thought it would be amazing to explore that side of the character. Black Cat has that incredible way of moving and that’s what made me really excited about it. I mean, I think it’s a fab role and, yeah, it would be amazing to do.
At this point, it seems as though anything may be possible, with rumors about a potential live-action Into the Spider-Verse swirling into our dimension. Which member of the web-slinger’s rogue gallery do you hope to see returning to the big screen?
