ONLINE OPP: Disneyland Paris Celebrates 29 Years
If you’re like me, then you’re just itching for some magic! I haven’t been to Disneyland Paris since it was EuroDisney, so this online opportunity is pretty exciting! Although Disneyland Paris didn’t open on April 2nd as planned, the park’s Disneyland Paris Ambassador Program will be hosting a virtual celebration on April 12th, 2021, to look back at 29 years at the resort and to celebrate its future.
Aujourd'hui nous faisons le point sur les travaux en cours à Disneyland Paris, et une grande réhabilitation secrète aurait d'ores et déjà débuté au Disneyland Hotel ! https://t.co/0tz60nj4NM

29 Years of Dream Virtual Celebration
The Disneyland Paris Ambassador Instagram account outlined the program taking place on April 12th, which will include a virtual “Walk the Park” to learn more about the history of the resort with Yves Benyeta (Imagineering) and Catherine Chevreux (Manager to Consumer Insight), a look at the future with Beth Clapperton (Imagineering) and David Duffy (Vice President of Entertainment), and “President Talks” with former Disneyland Paris President Philippe Bourguignon and current President Natacha Rafalski. Plus, more!
Based on the Disney Ambassador account, they’ve been hard at work preparing the virtual event for guests so it should be filled with magic and marvel! For True Believers, make sure to tune into Imagineer Clapperton’s portion of the festivities for updates on all things Marvel!
Guests are also invited to join the virtual tour for a first-look at the future of the Disneyland Paris Resort, which has some exciting Marvel-themed attractions, hotels, and entertainment planned for when the park reopens.
What’s Coming to Disneyland Paris?
Awhile back, Disney’s Hotel New York started its largest refurbishment to date, a re-imagining of the property into a four-star hotel where Tony Stark would be happy to call home: Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel.
Disney’s Hotel New York is the first hotel dedicated entirely to Marvel art, and it features one of the largest collections of Marvel artwork in the world! The new hotel is decorated with 300 works of art by 95 artists, and 50 of those pieces are original works of art designed just for the resort.
The original artwork for the hotel include a massive black-and-white backlit comic book installed in the main entrance lobby, a large metal sculpture in the ceiling evocative of Asgard, and three full-size Stark Industries Mark Suits (2, 21, 45B).
For fans who want to create their own comic stories, Marvel Design Studio will also open up to guests once Disneyland Paris reopens. However, in the meantime, the extremely talented animators and artists from the theme parks have been posting classes online showing people how to draw their favorite heroes!
What’s Inside Disney’s New York Hotel – The Art of Marvel?
People who attend the virtual event may get a glimpse of the newest Marvel-themed eateries inside the Manhattan-meets-Marvel masterpiece.
As a Jewish girl myself, I really hope to see the Downtown Restaurant, which is inspired by New York’s delis, during the event – Spider-Man has been known to dine at Katz’s Delicatessen, a real-world serve yourself style deli, after all.
Additionally, for (virtual) travelers who like to sip on a martini in-between rescuing bodega cats, there’s also the sleek Skyline Bar with a panoramic view of the NYC skyline featuring Avengers Tower. And, the view from the bar will include an interactive virtual reality view that changes throughout the day (but since techie stuff doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, you can read about it here).
The Marvel-inspired hotel will also include a sauna, steam room, and AMAZING NYC Subway-themed pool.
The Amazing Artists of Marvel Comics
As a former cast member, the workmanship behind the new hotel astounds me, and Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Imagineering have gone out of their way to highlight some of the amazing artists behind the magic, including two of my favorites from Marvel Comics: Olivier Coipel and Tula Lotay!
It’s clear from watching these interviews that not only does the updated hotel homage the Wonderful World of Disney, but it also demonstrates a deep understanding of the foundations of the Marvel Multiverse and its intertwined history with NYC.
