C’mon, Get Happy: JON FAVREAU Returns for Spider-Man 3
Good news, Marvel Blog True Believers! According to a report from Murphy’s Multiverse, Jon Favreau will be reprising the role of Happy Hogan in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Favreau Behind the Camera
Favreau holds a special place among the many hard-working crew members who put their talents into making the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies: he was the writer and director of Iron Man (2008), the flick that launched the Mighty Marvel Age in which we find ourselves!
This also means that you have Favreau to thank for what we think you will agree is some of the most inspired casting in Hollywood history: Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts!
Plus, the actor, writer, director, chef, babysitter of Grogu, and all-around-Renaissance man is responsible for the mid-credits scene that introduced Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury (and we’re all the better for it).
Favreau went on to direct Iron Man 2 (2010), which introduced Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow.
And while that was the last MCU movie directed by Favreau, he’s continued to have a happy (get it) working relationship with the many brands under the The Walt Disney Company umbrella.

For example, he directed The Jungle Book (2016) and The Lion King (2019) for Disney before applying some of the special effects skills he learned on those films to great effect with The Mandalorian, the first live-action Star Wars series (the first two seasons of which you can watch right now on Disney+, if you haven’t already).
Plus, if you want to see and hear more from Favreau, you can check out Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, the documentary series that takes you behind the scenes of the smash-hit Disney+ show.
Happy Onscreen
Happy was introduced in the very first MCU movie, Iron Man, returning in both Iron Man 2 and 2013’s Iron Man 3 (which was directed by Shane Black).
But that isn’t the only MCU trilogy to feature Stark’s intrepid friend and assistant! He’s also appeared in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, and now, he will appear in the upcoming third movie in the trilogy (all directed by Jon Watts).
Thwip to the Theater!
You can expect to see Favreau’s Hogan alongside Tom Holland as Peter, Zendaya as MJ, and Jacob Batalon as Ned (the guy in the chair) when Spider-Man: No Way Home is released in December 2021.
