New Moon Knight Incoming from Marvel Comics!
Maybe you really can consider Moon Knight to be “the one you see coming!” In addition to an upcoming Moon Knight series on Disney+, a new Moon Knight comic has been announced, arriving at your local comic shop on July 7th, 2021!
Bad Moon Rising
Between the upcoming Disney+ series, which is reportedly starring Oscar Isaac (much to everyone’s delight), and the incoming comic, there’s no shortage of Moon Knight on the way.
According to the official announcement at Marvel.com, the comic will feature a creative team that includes writer Jed McKay, artist Alessandro Cappucio, and cover artist Steve McNiven. However, no word yet on whether or not there will be a separate artist than Cappucio on color for Moon Knight #1, nor any indication on who might be working as the letterer for the issue.
Moon Knight #1 spins out of the recent “Age of Khonshu” storyline in the main Avengers series.
Night, Knight!
Aren’t sure what to read while you wait for Moon Knight #1 to arrive at your local comic shop, Marvel Blog True Believers? Then good news, everyone: head to your Marvel Unlimited app, because we’ve got some suggestions!
First, there’s the original appearance of Moon Knight in Werewolf by Night #32 by Dough Moench, Don Perlin, Howie Perlin, Ray Holloway, and Phil Rache.
We’re a big fan of Werewolf By Night, A.K.A. Jack Russell (seriously), a character who gained his lycanthropic curse from a grimoire with witch you’ll probably be very familiar after WandaVision: the Darkhold!
Once you’ve finished that issue, there are plenty more Marvel Comics featuring Moon Knight for you to check out on Marvel Unlimited. However, we recommend you next investigate Moon Knight #1 (2016) by Jeff Lemire, Greg Smallwood, Jordie Bellaire, and Cory Petit.
This comic might be worth your while just for the arresting covers alone!
But that isn’t all these pages have to offer: in addition to breathtaking art throughout each and every issue, this run of Moon Knight tells a tale that has Marc Spector questioning the nature of reality at every turn… and that’s definitely the vibe we’re hoping to see in the upcoming Disney+ show!
