The FALCON and the WINTER SOLDIER Talk Crossovers

At a press event for The Falcon and the Winter Solider, the first episode of which will arrive for streaming on Disney+ on Friday, March 19th, 2021, series stars Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson) and Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes) were asked which Phase Four Marvel Cinematic Universe characters they hoped their heroes would get the chance to interact with, and the answers were pretty exciting!

Sebastian Stan Wants to Moonlight on Moon Knight

According to Stan, who plays the Winter Solider, he’d most like to appear opposite Oscar Isaac, who is rumored to be the actor cast as Moon Knight (and according to the interviewer, this is the first official mention of the actor’s name in connection with the Disney+ series).

If such a team-up does occur, it may mean that the Winter Solider finds himself facing off against Ethan Hawke, who is rumored to be playing the villain for the series.

Hawke also said that he joined the series to act opposite of Isaac, so although Isaac isn’t officially confirmed as Marc Spector by Marvel Studios, it’s pretty clear that he’ll be starring in the series.

Can Anthony Mackie Cut It in Blade?

Meanwhile, Mackie has several ideas about characters he hopes the Falcon may appear alongside in upcoming MCU movies and Disney+ shows.

First, Mackie mentioned She-Hulk, the upcoming Disney+ show described as a “half-hour legal comedy,” saying that he “want[s] to be the [Joy Bryant] of She-Hulk or Blade!”

Judging from what we’ve seen of The Falcon and the Winter Solider so far, there will be plenty of grounds for legal action thanks to the fallout from the misadventures of Marvel’s favorite non-android/witch odd couple.

But perhaps the most tantalizing suggestion was Mackie’s statement that he’d like to appear alongside Mahershala Ali, the actor playing the eponymous half-vampire vampire hunter Blade in the upcoming movie.

Marvel Team-Ups: Falcon and…

One important element to remember about potential Marvel team-ups: even if both parties involved are superheroes, they may (at first) be at odds with one another! In fact, the Falcon already has something of a history of tussling with characters who will later prove to be allies. If you aren’t sure what we’re talking about, fire up Disney+ and re-watch Ant-Man (2015).
