Marvel Boy #3
You know it, Marvel Blog True Believers: Hexus is from the pages of Marvel Comics!
It first appeared in Marvel Boy #3 (2000) by Grant Morrison, J.G. Jones, Avalon Studios, Matt Milla, Richard Starkings, and Wes Abbott, where it operated under the name “Brand Hex” and used the same logo you can see on Austin’s sneakers throughout the first season of Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.

We learn in Marvel Boy #3, which you can read for yourself right now on the Marvel Unlimited app, that Hexus originated in the Sunken Galaxy. A living idea, it grows by hiring additional employees and expanding its corporate reach, using sophisticated advertising strategies to ruthlessly co-opt whatever world it finds itself on.

What is Hexus? Photo: Marvel Comics
Just like in the show, in the comics, Hexus is a malignant corporation that consumes all of a planet’s resources before moving on to destroy the next world via “spores” that transmit the idea of the company to a naive new world. In order to propagate, its final stage of life is to force its employees to build spaceships and carry the idea of Hexus to new worlds.
