REVIEW: Get War of the Bounty Hunters #1, LIKE NOW!
Today, Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #1 by Charles Soule, Luke Ross, Neeraj Menon, and Travis Lanham, is available at your local comic book shop, with a main cover by Steve McNiven and Frank D’Armata and a whole bunch of variants (including the Babbs Tarr Pride Month variant, featuring my favorite character, Doctor Aphra).
But don’t get too distracted by these incredible covers, Marvel Blog True Believers: this issue has everything you want out of a Star Wars comic!
Exotic Locales
First off, Marvel Blog has to shout out to the amazing settings in this book.
There’s the scenes set on the neon-saturated Smuggler’s Moon of Nar Shaddaa, one of my favorite locales since the Legends days. Sadly, we’ve yet to see this location on screen, but at least we can spend as much time as we’d like staring at these gorgeous renditions.
We also get to see some scenes set on Tatooine, the busiest backwater dustball in the galaxy.
And I have to say, one of the best pages in the book is the one that shows us the Hutt armada. As a super cool bonus, the initials of the core creative team – that’s C.S. + L.R. + N.M., Marvel Blog True Believers – are commemorated in the corner of the page in Aurebesh, the language of the Star Wars galaxy. Now that’s a cool Easter (Frog Lady) Egg!
An Amazing Twist
The first two acts of this book are incredible in and of themselves, featuring totally wizard Boba Fett bounty hunting action, plus some neat stuff with the Hutts.
However, the last eight pages of the book are so amazing that I have to talk about them (even though I will go to great lengths to avoid spoiling anything – seriously, experience this for yourself).
WAR OF THE BOUNTY HUNTERS #1 is out today! If you read it, tell me your thoughts.
A big twist at the end, tho, which we worked hard to keep secret; tough to do in comics where books get solicited months in advance. Don’t spoil!
Plenty of time to chat the ramifications later. pic.twitter.com/NMwCPeT7Lb

The segment starts off with a reveal that will get your attention and keep you focused as you feverishly begin to page through the next few pages, which feature a mix of familiar characters and a cool new spaceship.
Then, you get an awesome two-page splash that brings together the many threads we’ve been following in this event so far, and looks great doing it.
Each of these pages is capitalizing on the special storytelling medium of comics, using pages and panels to raise the tension further and further. And then you turn to the last page, and get one of the last-page character reveals we’re always talking about here at Marvel Blog… and reader, I gasped. Audibly.
Target & Acquire War of the Bounty Hunters #1!
My lips are sealed on who this character is for now, Marvel Blog True Believers. I can’t believe that the Lucasfilm crew managed to keep this one under wraps, and I’m not about to spoil it for anyone. But you can only go so long without hearing what just happened in War of the Bounty Hunters #1, and I recommend you find out for yourself before that!
