REVEALED: Hugh Jackman’s Best-Ever Life Advice!
The lessons a student learns at the Charles Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters can include some of the most valuable advice of one’s entire life – and that’s even true for the lessons that were learned via the teachers’ lessons plans! Don’t take it from me: in an article posted on The Hollywood Reporter on Friday, July 16th, 2021, Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) revealed that his all-time favorite life advice came from none other than Sir Patrick Stewart (Professor Charles Xavier) himself!
Good Advice
As Jackman explained to The Late Show host Stephen Colbert during an appearance on the CBS talk show on Thursday, July 15th, 2021, Stewart gave Jackman some of the most important advice he’s ever received.
The conversation took place on the set of X-Men (2000), which was Jackman’s first major movie role. According to Jackman, Stewart’s advice was to make sure he took some time to himself first thing in the morning. Stewart explained to Jackman that he always sets his alarm an hour early, so that he can enjoy a relaxing cup of tea and read a book for pleasure before the responsibilities of the day begin.
According to Jackman, this advice was so invaluable that he and his wife still follow it to this day. (Hey, are you also curious what books the Logan actor reads with his breakfast, well, me too, so I looked it up and here are 6 recommendations from the actor himself!)
But it wasn’t just Professor X who had some advice for Jackman…
Magneto Was Right
According to Jackman, Ian McKellen also had some invaluable advice for the Wolverine actor – specifically, about the difference between acting on stage versus acting on camera.
Jackman revealed that McKellen told him that he would always feel uncomfortable while acting in front of a camera, but in spite of this discomfort, the performance would look great on film!
Jackman loves to share the wisdom that his elders have passed on to him, and has done so on several earlier occasions, as well. This time, he told Colbert that he always remembers McKellen’s advice when acting, and considering how good his performances always appear on screen, it seems like Magneto was right!
