INCOMING AMALGAM: M’BAKU Is Batman!
In the upcoming scripted Batman Unburied podcast, which will be available for listening on Spotify, Winston Duke – perhaps best known to Marvel Blog True Believers as M’Baku, who was introduced in Black Panther and appeared in both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame – will be playing the role of Bruce Wayne!
Batman Unburied Podcast
The new podcast written by David S. Goyer will follow a version of Wayne who is employed by the Gotham Hospital as a forensic pathologist (to learn more about this cool profession, check out Canada’s first indigenous forensic pathologist, Dr. Kona Williams).
Wayne is investigating a series of murders that have been undertaken by The Harvester, a grisly serial killer who has been active in Gotham City. Although some Marvel Blog True Believers may not realize this (since his movies aren’t always great at getting the point across), Batman is the World’s Greatest Detective, so this is a great setup for the podcast!
Joining Duke on the podcast will be Jason Isaacs, who will be playing Alfred the butler. Isaacs previously voiced a version of Superman that pledged his allegiance to the U.S.S.R. in the animated Red Son adaptation. However, we think that Isaacs could be a prime candidate for the MCU…
Fancasting Captain Lorca
First of all, Isaacs could be great for the role of Norman Osborne. You may recognize this character from the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, where he was played by Willem Dafoe.
There’s no real beating Dafoe’s performance as the Goblin, but I think that Isaacs could play another side of the character to perfection: the aspect of the villain who serves as leader of the Dark Avengers!
Isaacs is no stranger to playing leaders who are actually pretty evil, thanks to his turn as Captain Lorca on Star Trek: Discovery. It would just be a question of finding the right hairpiece for Isaacs to wear!
M’Baku Returns Soon
While Duke may be voicing Wayne in Batman Unburied, we better be seeing him on-screen when Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever arrives on July 8th, 2022! Because hey, the more Duke we get to see the actor perform the better.
