REVIEW: Off to Paris in WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #3
In WEB of Spider-Man #3 by Kevin Shinick, Alberto Alburquerque, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Travis Lanham, with a main cover by Gurihiru, the kids who make up the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (Peter Parker, Doreen Green, Harley Keener, Onome, and Moon Girl) are on a flight to Paris, France. But because this is a Marvel Comics story, there’s bound to be some serious turbulence!
WEB of Spider-Man #3
I don’t want to spoil anything, Marvel Blog True Believers, but suffice to say that the majority of this issue takes place in transit… but that’s not really anything to complain about when the journey is as incredible as this one!
However, no sooner do our heroes take in the breathtaking French vista than they are attacked by the Green Goblin (so much for leaving him behind in NYC).
A crashing plane! Where have we seen that before? Well, Iron Man 3, the movie in which Keener first appeared, but while a plane crash may be relatively easy to avert for Iron Man, Spidey doesn’t even have his suit handy!
Another really cool aspect of this issue are the page layouts. The placement of panels on a comic book page can have a huge effect on how the reader experiences the story, and the pages in this book are very carefully laid out.
In particular, there’s a page where Peter shoots his webs that has a particularly cool panel layout!
Without spoiling the last-page reveal, I can tell you that when you get to the conclusion of this issue, you’ll definitely be ready to pick up WEB of Spider-Man #4!
