Marvel’s Voices: Heritage Announces Extraordinary Line Up!
In an article posted to the official Marvel website on Thursday, August 19th, 2021, it was revealed that the second year of Marvel’s Voices anthology comics is coming to Marvel Comics, with Marvel’s Voices: Heritage, spotlighting Indigenous creators, arriving in November 2021!
Marvel’s Voices
The Marvel’s Voices line of comics is inspired by the Marvel’s Voices podcast, which is hosted by Angélique Roché and is heading into its fourth season.
The comics take the form of anthologies, or collections of short comics, each with their own respective creative teams. This means that when you’re reading one of the Marvel’s Voices anthologies, you can be assured that you’re getting a variety of different perspectives and “types” of comic stories.
This not only highlights the width and breadth of the Marvel Universe, it also shows how diverse the spectrum of perspectives from the different communities spotlighted by the anthologies can be.
Marvel’s Voices: Indigenous Voices
This is the second Marvel’s Voices anthology to spotlight Indigenous voices, with last year’s Marvel’s Voices: Indigenous Voices being the first.
As noted by the article, many of the Indigenous creators who took part in the previous anthology are also returning, including stories by New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Roanhorse, who will introduce River’s full backstory; celebrated filmmaker and Snowguard co-creator Nyla Innuksuk, who will provide insight into Snowguard’s greatest hopes and fears; and artwork from returning pencilers David Cutler and Jim Terry.
Plus, Purépecha artist Maria Wolf, who made a splash with her first Marvel Comics cover last year, returns for an entire line of variants celebrating Indigenous characters!
Its time for the wolf to do what the wolf does best. Kicking ass!!!! Hahahaha https://t.co/cx1iNwYqDf

Furthermore, many of the creators spotlighted by these anthologies have gone on to engage in more work with Marvel, according to editor Sarah Brunstad.

While the full creative team for the anthology has yet to be revealed, we can rest assured that this will be another outstanding entry in the Marvel’s Voices line!
And while it may seem like a long wait until November, when Marvel’s Voices: Heritage arrives, at least we will have Marvel’s Voices: Identity, spotlighting Asian heroes, arriving next week, on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021!
Coming in November
