REVIEW: No Place Like Home in GAMMA FLIGHT #3
In Gamma Flight #3, “New Territory,” by Al Ewing, Crystal Frasier, Lan Medina, Antonio Fabela, and Joe Sabino, with a main cover by Leinil Francis Yu and Sunny Gho, readers find out just where the Gamma Flight team was sent at the conclusion of issue two, and we learn a whole lot more about Dionne, A.K.A. Stockpile, including her totally disgusting powers! Things are about to get messy, Marvel Blog True Believers!
New Territory
First of all, this issue fully answers the question presented at the conclusion of the last issue in a satisfying way, and what else could you want out of a cliffhanger in serialized storytelling?
The answer to “where Crusher Creel accidentally sent them” is more strange that you might imagine, and works really well with the world that was set up in the pages of Immortal Hulk.
Plus, this issue is narrated by Eugene Judd, A.K.A. Puck, and his insight is a welcome and enjoyable addition to the story.
In addition to the A-plot, in which part of the Gamma Flight team must figure out where they heck they have found themselves, the B-plot sees Dr. McGowan concentrating on improving her listening skills as she works closely with Rick Jones/Del Frye.
While McGowan was already a favorite character of mine before Gamma Flight, Jones/Frye has quickly become a second favorite character in this series, so seeing them play off one another is a real treat.
This issue also gives us a chance to see Stockpile’s powers in action… and it seems like she can incorporate objects into her mass and then process and “exude” them. It’s just as weird and gross as it sounds!
