More Marvel Comics Ahead: KING CONAN #1
In an article posted to the official Marvel website on Wednesday, September 8th, 2021, Marvel fans got their first look at King Conan #1 by writer Jason Aaron, artist Mahmud Asrar, and colorist Matt Wilson, plus a currently unannounced letterer, which will be arriving at their respective local comic shops on December 15th, 2021!
The Hyborian Age
The comic is a continuation of the currently-announced creative team’s work on the previous relaunch of Conan the Barbarian #1, which was published in January 2019. Based on Robert E. Howard’s creation, Conan, this series is currently available to be read on Marvel Unlimited, Marvel Blog True Believers!
King Conan will take the character’s story further than it has even gone before, bringing the narrative into the era in which the Barbarian has become a King.
Given Aaron’s work on the recent Marvel Comics crossover event Heroes Reborn, it’s easy to see how the writer’s skills – which include taking character arcs to their logical conclusion and exploring strange new worlds – will be useful in this next chapter of Conan’s legendary tale.
“By Crom, we’re finally bringing the barbarian-turned-king to the readers,” Asrar said in a quote included in the King Conan #1 write-up on Marvel’s official website. “It’s criminal how much I’m enjoying drawing each panel in this book considering what we’re putting him through.”
