All Hail the King Arrives on Disney+
In a surprise move (for those who haven’t been following Marvel Blog’s ongoing coverage), “All Hail the King,” one of the Marvel One-Shot shorts that was released directly to DVD during Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has been released for streaming on Disney+!
And if you’ve already seen Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in theaters, like many other people did this weekend (even shattering Labor Day Weekend box office records), you can probably guess why!
SPOILER WARNING: If you haven’t had a chance to see the movie yet and want to avoid spoilers, then now is the time to evacuate the page!
Trevor Slatterly
The “All Hail the King” short picks up when the narrative of Iron Man 3 lets off. In that movie, we learn that the person who has presented himself as “The Mandarin” is actually Trevor Slatterly (Ben Kingsley), a misguided actor.
In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Wenwu (Tony Leung) explains that after Slatterly was imprisoned, he retrieved him. If you want to see these events from Slatterly’s perspective, then “All Hail the King” is required viewing!
After being taken away by Wenwu’s men in “All Hail the King,” Slatterly is brought to the Ten Rings’ Headquarters, where he is about to be murdered… until he recites some Shakespeare, that is! Wenwu is suitably convinced that Slatterly can stay alive, essentially as his court jester.
I mean… survival is survival, right Marvel Blog True Believers? And anyway, at least he got to meet Morris in the bargain!
