What If…? Clip Teases Greatest Party Ever
In a tweet sent by the official Rotten Tomatoes Twitter account on Tuesday, September 21st, 2021, a clip of the upcoming episode of the Marvel Studios animated series What If…? on Disney+ was released!
Featuring a whole host of returning Marvel Cinematic Universe characters from across the Thor films, this clip give us a glimpse of “What If… Thor was an Only Child?”

No Loki Variant
That’s right, Marvel Blog True Believers: it looks like this episode will show us what might have transpired if Odin had never adopted Loki! It turns out that Thor (who is once again voiced by Chris Hemsworth) would have taken a more party-filled path had his sibling not been around to help him grow, which is the perfect alternative path for a god who looks like he came straight from Greek Row.

In addition to Hemsworth’s Thor, What If…? head writer AC Bradley revealed to EW that “this episode is chock full of cameos” because it was recorded later in the process of making the first season of the series and many of the MCU actors had fun and wanted to return.
Thus, in the latest clip, viewers may have noticed a whole bunch of other returning MCU characters, including many from Thor: Ragnarok, like the Grandmaster (originated by Jeff Goldblum) and Topaz (voiced by Rachel House), showing off their comedic chops.

“A lot of the lines are improvised by the actors,” Bradley said. “It should be Easter egg heaven. I hope people have fun with the one this week because it’s not as bombastic world-ending as other episodes. The mandate for me when I was writing it was, I just want to have fun, I just want to be silly. It’s a lot sillier than anything you’d see in the MCU. It should be an episode to watch with a beer.”

Is it possible that we may also see Korg, voiced by Taika Waititi, the writer and director of Ragnarok, making an appearance in this episode? Let’s keep our stony fingers crossed, Marvel Blog True Believers!
Luckily, however, even if Korg doesn’t return in this week’s Can’t Hardly Wait episode, at least we can look forward to the return of Howard the Duck (voiced by Seth Green), who is probably still drinking a martini at the bar.

The Lady Docs Return in What If…?
The characters we see in the clip aren’t limited to those introduced by Ragnarok: we also see a cadre of shapeshifting Skrulls, first introduced on-screen in Captain Marvel (2019) before steadily making their way to every corner of the Marvel multiverse ever since!

Director Bryan Andrews explained to EW that this episode takes “place in the timeframe roughly of what we think of as Thor so there are some other characters that we do get to see from that movie — Jane Foster makes an appearance as well as Darcy and Natalie Portman and Kat Dennings did such a fantastic job.”
Excitingly, the latest What If…? clip gives viewers our first look at Jane Foster (voiced by Portman) in the animated series.
