REVIEW: It Takes Two in Doctor Aphra #13
In Doctor Aphra #13 by Alyssa Wong, Minkyu Jung, Victor Olazaba, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Joe Caramagna, with a main cover by Sara Pichelli and Nolan Woodard, we get double the action in a tale that gives us two of basically everything!

Here’s what I mean:
1. Two Sides to Every Story
First of all, this story opens with Aphra having a flashback to her previous encounters with Vader! Hey, you would too, if you had double-crossed the scariest guy in the galaxy! In a previous run of Darth Vader, which you can read now on Marvel Unlimited, Aphra was an ally of Vader… until she kind of sort of betrayed him and faked her death.

Sure, there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation… but do you think Vader cares? Aphra is right to be scared, and Vader’s presence gives this whole issue adequate tension.
2. Two Star Wars-Crossed Lovers
Everyone knows that Aphra is a lesbian, and Sana Starros is bi… but in this issue, we see that there could indeed be a spark of romance between these two characters! In a classic action movie style moment, it looks like the pair will kiss, but instead, it is a tactical decision.

This trope gets me everytime! Why shouldn’t they kiss in the middle of a battle? I guess I just get caught up in the moment.
3. Four Exes (that’s Twice Two, Marvel Blog True Believers)
This is where things start to get messy. First of all, Sana is Han Solo’s ex… sort of awkward, considering he’s frozen in carbonite at this same party. And on top of that, Solo’s other ex, Qi’ra, from the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story, is also at the party…

But it’s even more awkward still, given that Darth Vader is there. First of all, Qi’ra was trained by Darth Maul… who is basically the Emperor’s ex! And we all now that while Ochi is the bounty hunter working with Vader now, he used to work with Aphra…
So that’s four (count ‘em, four) exes. DRAMA ALERT!
4. Two-Headed Droids
Finally, the issue ends with a double-headed droid… Yup, uh huh, yet another one-two punch from this exciting issue!
