Captain America 80th Anniversary Honored with Variant Merch!
In an article posted to the official Marvel Entertainment website on Thursday, September 23rd, 2021, a series of t-shirts celebrating the 80th anniversary of Captain America was revealed!
These t-shirts feature many of the non-Cap Marvel heroes, but reimagined as though they were the ones to claim the mantle of the First Avenger (just like Peggy Carter did in the first episode of the animated anthology series What If…? on Disney+ or like the five new Caps are inspired to do in The United States of Captain America)!

CAPTAIN AMERICA 80TH: Cap Variants
Based on a series of variant covers that debuted in July 2021, these t-shirt designs mash up your favorite non-Cap heroes with Captain America himself!

First up, one of the mashups is something of an internal Civil War, with Iron Man as Cap, as depicted by John Cassaday and Dave Stewart.

Next, there’s Spider-Woman as Cap by Steve McNiven and Frank D’Armata.

In one of the coolest mashups, that’s sure to be a popular entry, we see Miles Morales: Spider-Man as Cap in a cover by Iban Coello and Alejandro Sànchez.

And it isn’t just heroes who got the chance to wield the shield in these Variants!
Moon Knight gets the Cap treatment in a Variant by Pepe Larraz and Marte Garcia.

Black Cat also gets Cap’d by Leinil Francis Yu and Sunny Gho.

And Black Widow gets to hold the Captain America shield (instead of the Red Guardian one) in a cover by Mark Brooks (who you may recognize from the panels of Doctor Aphra, such a multiverse).

Then, then Fantastic Four all get to share the mantle of Cap in a cover by Nick Bradshaw and Rachelle Rosenberg.
