REVIEW: I Will Remember You in Hulkling & Wiccan 2

Well, Marvel Blog True Believers, it’s another Monday, and that means we get another new entry in the four-part Hulkling & Wiccan Infinity Comics series on Marvel Unlimited! Written by Josh Trujillo with art by Jodi Nishijima, colors by Matt Milla, letters by Ariana Maher, and production by Annie Cheng, this episode picks up right where last week’s left off!

Possibilities Part 2

In this episode, we get to see what the parallel timeline lovers look like for both of our heroes!

Hulkling has gone full Cosmic Marvel, dating Goebig, a giant extraterrestrial warrior. But while they seem like a cute couple, I just want Goebig to go home – sorry, big guy, but there’s only one husband for Hulkling, if you ask me: Billy Kaplan!

And speaking of Wiccan, we get to see who he’s dating in this strange new world: Eidolon. The name is significant: taken from Greek mythology, it means “a spirit-image of a living or dead person.” Wiccan’s lover is trapped between life and death, but when Billy casts a spell to restore him, he is using language for the spell that starts allowing images of Hulkling to impune on his new reality.

Plus, we need to talk about two technical aspects of this comic: first of all, the art and colors are incredibly well done! The unique scrolling format of webcomics allows for some very interesting imagery to take place in the “gutters” between panels, and Hulkling & Wiccan uses this to create a unique and interesting background that follows you as your scroll through this episode.

And second, shout-out to Maher for the incredible lettering – especially with the logos for Goebig and Eidolon’s names, which make it seem like the brand-new characters might have been headlining their own solo titles for decades, or the various font colors that appear as different characters speak.
