Russos Announce IMAX Enhanced MCU on Disney+

In a Tweet sent on Monday, November 8th, 2021, Anthony Russo of the Russo Brothers announced that beginning Friday, November 12th, 2021 – that’s Disney+ Day, Marvel Blog True Believers – fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were will be able to watch all four of the Russo Bros-directed movies in an IMAX Enhanced format, reflecting the manner in which they were shot!

IMAX on Disney+ Day

We have known for quite a while now that Disney+ Day would be an exciting event! It commemorates the anniversary of Disney+ by marking the date that everyone’s most essential streaming service launched back in 2019.

According to previously released details about Disney+ Day, we’ll be getting a brand-new special centering the MCU, along with other surprises… and now we known one of them: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame were each shot in the IMAX format and released in IMAX theaters… but now, fans will be able to enjoy the IMAX experience at home for these four (plus other additional titles).

By taking advantage of a streaming breakthrough that allows the IMAX Enhanced experience at home, Disney+ is breaking more new ground and further obviating the distinction between big- and small-screen MCU entertainment!

Here’s my question, Marvel Blog True Believers: when do we get the IMAX Enhanced version of WandaVision on Disney+? This doesn’t really make sense, considering you need to use special film equipment on set when making an IMAX movie… but then again, when a reality-warping witch is involved, who can say where the boundaries lie? Bring me breakfast for dinner in IMAX!
