Shang-Chi: The Bus Operator’s Perspective
In a series of Tweets sent on Saturday, November 13th, 2021, the Twitter account Mack, yes, That Mack (@that_mc), a self-proclaimed bus operator, analyzed the bus-based action sequence that takes place in the first act of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, now available for streaming on Disney+ (even in IMAX, Marvel Blog True Believers)!
Finally watching Shang-Chi, here as a bus operator to rate the SFT transit factors of The Bus Scene:

I’m On a Bus
If you’ve seen Shang-Chi, you know the scene: Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) and Katy (Awkwafina) are taking public transport in order to get to work. However, they are soon attacked by Razorfist (Florian Munteanu).
There are some major points that Mack brings up right away – for one thing, this bus is “SFT,” or “San Francisco Transit.” As anyone from the Bay Area can tell you, this is not actually the name of the public transit system in San Francisco!
Another point that Mack made was that the geography we see outside the bus doesn’t make any sense. In fact, at one point it is observed that the bus ride depicted in the action sequence would have taken 40 minutes! That’s a lot of fighting, Marvel Blog True Believers.
However, Mack took the time to applaud some of the other elements of the sequence, like the inclusion of the “stop request” pullstring, the inclusion of the bus operator’s lunch box, and the individual who decides to start streaming the fight on his cell phone as it transpires (“This would Definitely Happen,” Mack Tweeted with a picture of the character filming).
Lest you question whether Mack enjoyed the movie in spite of its inaccuracies, Mack came back for a coda, where he thanks both the actors involved in the scene and the crew behind the scenes that put in so many hours to put this scene together, and urges readers to support public transit.
Hey, maybe in Shang-Chi 2 he will fight on a train!
Shang-Chi takes the bus!
