Delroy Lindo Confirmed for Blade Reboot
In an article posted on the Deadline website on Friday, November 19th, 2021, it was revealed that Delroy Lindo has been cast opposite star Mahershala Ali in the highly anticipated upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Blade reboot!
Blade Reboot
Little is currently known about the Blade reboot. Back at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Ali was announced in the role. But since July 2019, Lindo has been the first additional casting announcement.
It isn’t currently clear what role Lindo will be playing. Could he be a mentor, or an antagonist, or most sinister of all, a mentor who turns out to be an antagonist? Only time will tell, Marvel Blog True Believers!
Blade Recasting
While Ali will be playing the role of Blade in the movie, it won’t be the first time he’s appeared in a Marvel project: in 2016’s Luke Cage, which was released on Netflix, Ali played the villainous Cottonmouth.
And the character was previously played by Wesley Snipes in the original Blade trilogy: 1998’s Blade, 2002’s Blade II, and 2004’s Blade: Trinity. Furthermore, Blade: Trinity also featured another Marvelous actor in a supporting role: Ryan Reynolds, who would later go on to play Deadpool in 2016’s Deadpool, a role he will continue to play in a third MCU Deadpool movie.
Could we end up seeing Reynolds as Deadpool opposite Ali as Blade? Stranger things have transpired, Marvel Blog True Believers! Just take a look at this comic page…
Remember: both Blade and Deadpool are supposed to be more “mature” Marvel movies. Maybe this meta-reunion is in the cards?
