37 Across
The crossword clue in question is “37 Across,” and it reads, “Comics artist Henderson.”
The answer, which is five letters, is of course “Erica.”
Unbeatable Squirrel Girl
Henderson’s accomplishments on The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl are surely worthy of recognition in a crossword!
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl first began in January 2015, with Henderson on art, Ryan North writing, and Rico Renzo on colors. Eight issues later, it was relaunched in October 2015 as part of the All-New, All-Different initiative.
Henderson began by providing both the covers and the interiors, but with issue 31, she switched to just doing the covers, while Derek Charm took over on interior art for the remaining nineteen issues of the 50 (or is it 58?) book run. This is only one instance of North and Charm working together, too, as the pair also collaborated on issues of Jughead over at Archie Comics.
However, Henderson did return to bring this two-panel comic to us on the final page of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #50, featuring Erica herself in conversation with the unbeatable Doreen Green!
In addition to working on the main series, North, Henderson, and Renzo also collaborated on The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Beats Up the Marvel Universe, a 2016 graphic novel that takes place within the continuity of the 58 issue series.
