RUMOR: Will M.O.D.O.K. Appear in Quantumania?
Stop the presses (or M.O.D.O.K. will destroy them)! In an article posted to The Direct on Monday, December 6th, 2021, it was reported that the supervillain M.O.D.O.K. (that’s “Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing,” Marvel Blog True Believers) will play a “major role” in the upcoming threequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania!
Please be aware that this article includes spoilers for Eternals and Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.
Mental Organism Designed Only for Quantumania
If the name “M.O.D.O.K.” sounds familiar to you, we’re not surprised, Marvel Blog True Believers!
Earlier this year, the supervillian headlined his very own animated series on Hulu. This show starred Patton Oswalt as M.O.D.O.K. and was co-created by Jordan Blum (Spider-Bot Infinity Comic). That series followed the big-headed supervillain as he attempted to balance his family life with his professional life (and by “professional life,” we mean, “taking over the world”).
We already know that Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) will be playing an important role in Quantumania, but now it seems like he may be facing some competition for top antagonist billing in the highly anticipated third movie in the Ant-Man and the Wasp trilogy. According to the article on The Direct, M.O.D.O.K. appeared in an early version of the script penned by Paul Rudd himself, and managed to survive through the rewrites to be included in the current version of the film.
It isn’t clear who will be playing the role of M.O.D.O.K. in live-action, however. While Oswalt could reprise the role, he recently appeared in the role of Pip the Troll in a mid-credits scene for Eternals. That being said, the final episode of Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. on Hulu featured the supervillain in a future timeline in which he had seemingly conquered Earth… which could put him at odds with Kang, Ant-Man, the Wasp, and all sorts of other characters, too!
