REVIEW: The Death of Doctor Strange #3
In The Death of Doctor Strange #3 by Jed MacKay, Lee Garbett, Antonio Fabela, and Cory Petit, with a main cover by Kaare Andrews, we get a story that picks up the many elements from the previous two issues and uses them to build some very interesting action!
The Death of Doctor Strange #3
This issue is divided into three chapters, and it uses its structure to great effect, which each segment having a different flavor.
The first concerns the events at Avengers Headquarters, which is currently located inside a dead Celestial (no kidding, Marvel Blog True Believers – and this will look familiar to anyone who has had the chance to stream Eternals on Disney+). This chapter follows both the autopsy of Doctor Strange (by Doctor Strange – long story) and the Avengers discussion of what to do next about the Three Mothers.
We also learn an important detail about Strange’s murder: because of the manner in which it was done, a new Sorcerer Supreme cannot be selected.
In the second chapter, Strange and Lady Clea get a chance to have a personal moment, which is a nice scene for their relationship.
And finally, in the third chapter, we get a pair of scenes that are laid side-by-side with one another in a manner that can only be achieved using the magic of comic books. This chapter was especially exciting, and spells very interesting plot developments in the next issue!
