REVIEW: Marvel Hospital in Amazing Spider-Man #82
In Amazing Spider-Man #82 by Saladin Ahmed, Jorge Fornés, Dan Brown, and Joe Caramagna, with an arresting main cover by Arthur Adams and Romulo Fajardo Jr., we get a story about Peter Parker’s tenure in the hospital as he recovers from his injuries… and it’s just the sort of recovery period you’d expect from the writer of the Spine-Tingling Spider-Man!
Marvel Hospital
This is the eighth chapter of the Beyond storyline, which sees Ben Reilly taking over the mantle of Spider-Man after Peter was horribly injured in battle, resulting in a coma. As Peter recovers from his injuries, Ben has been swinging around the city as Spidey – with a little assistance from the Beyond Corporation.
In this issue, we don’t see anything about Ben or the Beyond Corporation: this issue is exclusively about an episode Peter experiences while recovering in the hospital. It turns out that one of the orderlies is actually a horrible monster who has been devouring patients after their treatment has been completed!
Fortunately, Peter isn’t alone, even when the Avengers aren’t around: those closest to him always have his back. In this case, that means Mary Jane, who has been staying close by Peter’s side throughout his time in the hospital. It turns out you don’t need to be a superhero to stand your ground against a monster who is disguising himself as a member of the medical staff – how’s that for the world outside your window?
