Moon Knight Teaser on Full Moon
There was a lot to take out of Marvel Studios’ debut trailer for the highly anticipated Oscar Isaac series, Moon Knight. In it, fans get to see Isaac transform from the sleep-deprived and very distraught character of Steven Grant into the vigilante Moon Knight, and we also got to see the first appearance of Ethan Hawke‘s long-awaited and mysterious villain.
With a series that has given us so much to speculate about in the first trailer, there is still so much we don’t know about the series based on one of Marvel Comics’ most enigmatic characters.
It appears as though there was also a very small cameo that could have massive implications for the upcoming Disney+ series.
First Look at Khonshu
The Moon Knight trailer gives a terrifying first look at a very important character to the series, perhaps one of the most important, as we have seen the Moon God himself, Khonshu.
Moon Knight is referred to in the source material as the Fist of Khonshu, a title attributed to the character as it speaks to Marc Spector’s connection to the Moon God that chooses to occupy Marc’s body.
Khonshu is an Egyptian entity that has a very creepy look, with a head that appears to almost be an animalistic skull, and staff with a crescent moon – the logo Moon Knight wears on his chest – always in his right hand.
The trailer shows Khonshu quickly appearing at the end of a hallway and slowly approaching Marc in a very zombie-like fashion, before he snaps out of his illusion and sees normal women enter the elevator.
These visions of Khonshu seemingly act as nightmares that Grant perceives as side effects to his inability to sleep, but may actually be revealed as his own contact with the Moon God.
Watching the character of Khonshu evolve and his relationship with his chosen host in Marc develop, it will be interesting to see how the characters come into focus in the grand scheme of the greater MCU.
