RETRO REVIEW: Wolverine in The Incredible Hulk #181
In The Incredible Hulk (1974) #181 by Len Wein, Herb Trimpe, Jack Abel, Glynis Wein, and Artie Simek, we get introduced to one of the most important characters in Marvel Comics history: Wolverine!
The Incredible Hulk feat. Wolverine
Obviously, this is an important issue for the whole Marvel Comics multiverse, Marvel Blog True Believers: Wolverine is a fundamental character!
Check out the very first page of this issue, that shows Logan leaping into action against both the Hulk and Wendigo.
Over the course of this issue, the Hulk and Wolverine engage in a long, action-packed battle! Meanwhile, unbeknownst to the Hulk or Wolverine, one of the family members of the man who has been subjected to the curse of the Wendigo attempts to magically shift the curse from him over to the Hulk. That’s not cool! But while this adds some tension to the issue, the main event is definitely the battle between the Hulk and Logan.
One of the very cool things about this issue is how it reveals how well realized Wolverine already was when he first appeared. From the very first panel, this is unmistakably the character who will long serve as the face of the X-Men (sorry, not sorry, Xavier)!
