Black Panther Introduces Wakanda’s Newest Hero
In an article posted to the official Marvel website on Thursday, January 20th, 2022, the newest hero from Wakanda was revealed! Tosin Oduye will make his official debut in the upcoming Black Panther #3… and there’s a reason this giant-sized issue will feature the debut (and additional bonus material, to boot): this is Black Panther’s milestone 200th issue!
Introducing Tosin Oduye
Black Panther #3 will continue the ongoing story that the creative team on the title, including John Ridley and Juann Cabal, have begun in the first two issues (which will already be familiar to the most dedicated of Marvel Blog True Believers).
The character of Oduye, who will make his debut in this issue, was designed by German Peralta. According to details that have been revealed about the character, he is a disaffected Wakandan youth who is skeptical of the political choices made by T’Challa and the other elders in running their country. And there’s another reason that Oduye’s perspective will be so different than many of the character from Wakanda we have met before: he is from a village where the people have turned their back on the incredibly advanced technology for which the country is most generally known.
In order to properly introduce Oduye, he will be given a ten-page story that will explain why he made the decision to become a hero himself!
Oversized 200th Issue
But it isn’t just the introduction of Oduye that makes this issue a must: there will also be a backup story by none other than cartoonist Juni Ba… and this issue guest stars the X-Men, too (including T’Challa’s ex-wife Ororo, if the cover is to believed)! Will you be picking up this issue when it arrives? We want to hear from you in the comment section, Marvel Blog True Believers!
