‘Moon Knight’ Trailer Sets a YouTube Record for Marvel
One of the MCU’s most anticipated projects for 2022 is already formulating some strong fanfare. The recently released Moon Knight trailer has set an impressive YouTube record for Marvel.
An enigmatic project for Marvel, Moon Knight has carried with it an air of mystery as to just what fans can expect.
Covering one of Marvel comics’ most unique creations, Moon Knight explores the story of a character named Marc Spector, who suffers from dissociative identity disorder, a mental illness that forces him to cope with life as multiple personalities.
Starring beloved Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac in the title role, the trailer gave fans their first look at Isaac portraying the cockney Steven Grant, one of Spector’s personalities, in a trailer that ensured fans were in for a brutal ride.
There is no question that fans were eager for information on the 2022 DIsney+ series as the Moon Knight trailer sets a youtube record for Marvel; an incredible feat considering some of the massive trailers that the platform has hosted.
Premiering during the NFL Wildcard game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Los Angeles Rams on ESPN, and arriving on Youtube later that night, the trailer is now the most liked trailer for any of Marvel Disney+ series.
The Direct first reported that the trailer has garnered over 1 Million likes on the popular social media platform, putting it ahead of Hawkeye at 915K, WandaVision at 760K, Loki at 723K, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier at 652K.
It is very surprising considering the trailer first debuted on television and was shown before a very well-performing program.
With the NFL Wildcard game dictating what teams will advance in the playoffs, the massive number of people watching led to a very good initial audience for the trailer; one that may have concerned Marvel, as fewer people had a reason to seek it out on Youtube.
That has proven not to be the case, however, as Moon Knight may already be proving to be one of Marvel’s biggest hits on the Disney exclusive streaming service.
