REVIEW: Going to Disneyland in Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #3
In Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #3 by Marieke Nijkamp, Enid Balám, Oren Junior, Brittany Peer, and Joe Caramagna, with a main cover by Jahnoy Lindsay, we get a more in-depth look at the Circus of Crime!
Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #3
The most devoted of Marvel Blog True Believers will already be well aware that I am a huge fan of the recap page for this series, which takes the form of a group text between Kate, America Chavez, and Cassie Lang.
Not only does it quickly catch you up to speed, it also includes some fantastic jokes and honestly, who doesn’t want to be a part of a chat with multiple Marvelous heroines?
First of all, let’s cut right to the chase: this issue features trick arrows! We all know that trick arrows are a key part of being Hawkeye, and in this story, Kate gets to prove that she has a quiver full of the goods!
In particular, I enjoyed the depictions of what happens after the trick arrows have finished flying.
This issue also gets bonus points for providing a juicy part for Pizza Dog.
And while I was a little disappointed that Kate’s family was once again getting a supporting role in her story, this issue does a good job of integrating her sister into the story. And on top of that, she even gets to work with the fragment of a Cosmic Cube!
Shout out to the art in this issue as well, which channels the 2016 Hawkeye run in all the right places… especially when Kate is taking stock of potential targets.
Kate’s Going to Disneyland
And now for some special recognition for this issue’s opening, a full-page splash that features Kate Bishop herself (that’s the greatest archer in the world to you) saying that next time, instead of visiting a resort, she’ll just go to Disneyland…
And she’s not kidding, Marvel Blog True Believers! Both Hawkeyes have been spotted around Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. Have you had a chance to visit them there? Let us know in the comment section!
