‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘Shang-Chi’ Receive Critics Choice Super Award Nominations
Two of the biggest MCU films of the past year are being recognized among the best films of the year as Spider-Man: No Way Home and Shang-Chi receive multiple Critics Choice Super Awards nominations.
The pandemic has certainly taken its toll on all of us, and the film industry was nearly decimated by its relentless effect on the workforce and the consumer base; yet, despite these challenges the Marvel Cinematic universe produced some of its most iconic work to date.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was one of Marvel’s earlier Phase Four works that pointed towards the intention of the MCU to reconstruct what many would consider the Marvel Mold.
The ambition and creativity in that film- partnered with its strong desire to honor the great cinematic history of Eastern cultures- crafted a film, and a heroin Shang-Chi, that will undoubtedly preserver for the foreseeable future.
As giant and critically successful as Shang-Chi was, it did not compare to the record-breaking success story that Spider-Man: No Way Home would prove to be; demolishing pandemic era box office numbers on its way to being one of the biggest domestic box office performers of all time.
Although the Academy Awards had egregiously left out Spider-Man: No Way Home from several eligible categories, the second annual Critics Choice Super Awards have celebrated both Spider-Man: No Way Home and Shang-Chi, and their immense success and accomplishment in film.
