Marvel Fans Celebrate 5th Anniversary of ‘Logan’
There may never come another film that so brilliantly captures over twenty years of character development into one final swan song as fans celebrate the 5th anniversary of Logan.
With the advent of the modern MCU, it is difficult for Marvel fans to imagine a world where comic book adaptions weren’t prominent.
A world where comic book characters were seen as detrimental investments for big budget film studios, and there was no proof of concept as far as the medium properly-being explored on the big screen.
That all changed in the 2000s with the two biggest film franchises perhaps of the entire decade: X-Men and Spider-Man.
Blade was undoubtedly a massive success story in his own right, but X-Men and Spider-Man were two immensely popular comic book franchises- two of the biggest ever created- and took massive risks in adaptation to craft stories that were both suitable for film, and responsible to its source material.
One of the iconic creations o that era was the role that would on to be played for well over 15 years; the role of Wolverine by the legendary Hugh Jackman.
After portraying the character in countless X-Men films, and spin-off solo projects, there was a feeling that the character was setting up his final on-screen moments.
That was when Jackman first acknowledged talk of his final appearance of the character; a final send-off that would befit the journey he and the character had taken for almost two decades, and an end that would be as gritty, violent, and painful as Wolverines entire lives journey had been.
