We Have A Theory…Ralph Bohner of ‘WandaVision’ May Be More Important Than We Realized
Wanda Maximoff has firmly positioned herself as one of the most important characters for the MCU moving forward, and we discuss why Ralph Bohner of WandaVision may be more important than anyone realized.
Loki was the first Marvel Studios property to truly introduce the idea of the multiverse into the MCU, with the eponymous character discovering the reality of variants and alternate realities within his series first season.
It was an idea that was then built upon in Spider-Man: No Way Home, with the multiversal versions of Spider-Man coming through to help the MCUs iteration of the character defend against some of the most iconic Spider-Man villains of all time.
All of that multiversal world-building should come to a head in the upcoming, and highly anticipated, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness; a series that will take the MCUs resident sorcerer through multiple dimensions of the Marvel Universe to stop an unknown threat.
One of the key characters of that Doctor Strange sequel is undoubtedly Wanda Maximoff, as the character fulfilled her final evolution into the Scarlet Witch at the conclusion of her solo series, WandaVision.
Yet, there may be another character that debut in that series who could be more important than anyone realized; and that character is the fake Pietro Maximoff.
So, We Have A Theory…that Ralph Bohner of WandaVision may be more important than any one of us realized.
The theory was originally brought to life by Reddit user r/CassandraOracle, who posted on the r/WANDAVISION subreddit, a short explanation of why she believes that Bohner may hold some importance.
In short, the theory suggests that Bohner is actually a multiversal version of Pietro Maximoff in the MCU, and this could be verified in a few ways.
First, Wanda- when asked if she has a brother- tells Tommy, “I do. Yeah. He’s far away from here. And that makes me sad sometimes.”
It is the statement that he is, “far away,” as opposed to being dead that may inform the reality that Wanda could have sensed the multiversal version f Pietro and thought it to be her brother present in a different form of reality.
Ralph Bohner is played by Evan Peters, who fans know as the Quicksilver of Fox’s X-Men universe; and, when the character debuts in the MCU, he has silver hair in a similar vein of the actual Pietro Maximoff of the MCU that died in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Yet, the most interesting evidence of all is the statement from WandaVision director Matt Shakman, who stated, “Evan is definitely something that was obviously a very conscious decision, so it’s very different, its a key narrative moment as opposed to just an easter egg or something that might inspire a theory…”
Shakman continues, “So, it worked on so many different levels and if folks were disappointed that it wasn’t the multiverse of X-Men, you know, Marvels got your back, just wait.”
It’s an incredibly telling statement that perhaps Wanda pulled Quicksilver from Fox/s X-Men universe, crafting a reality in which she has her brother back; just not the version that we know.
It certainly is interesting to consider, and if proven correct would be the first moment when the multiverse was confirmed within the MCU, and Ralph Bohner of Wandavision would be way more important than anyone realized.
