Disney+ Reportedly Censors Violent Scenes from ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’
In a surprising development, it appears as though the streaming platform is toning down some of its more mature content, as Disney+ censors violent scenes from Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Recent weeks have brought some controversy to the Disney exclusive streaming service, as the MCU has introduced some more mature content to the platform.
We have seen this erupt in the news recently, with several parents organizations standing against series like Daredevil- and the more mature Netflix collaborated Marvel properties- making their way to a Disney+ platform that has been known for its family-friendly content.
These Netflix series, however, aren’t the only culprit for an increase in more mature content, as the impending Moon Knight series- which just saw its fantastically well-received series premiere– is shaping up to be the most brutal project yet for Marvel Studios; and subsequently Disney+.
It appears as though some of the concerns raised by certain parties have led to action, as (Via CBR.com) Disney+ reportedly censors some more violent scenes from Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier was the brilliantly executed MCU Disney+ series that explored the character of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, as the former grew to embrace his inherited role as Captain America amidst a system that was against his appointment.
The series wasn’t overly violent, or mature, in any way, but recent changes to the series have pointed to Disney+ taking a stand against the amount of blood and violence that is seen by viewers.
The scene in question shows Bucky Barnes throwing a metal pole at an assailant, with the original version showing the pole stabbing her shoulder; the censored version seeing the pole bounce off.
The only real alteration comes in the amount of blood that is visible to the audience, which may have been a conscious effort from Marvel to limit the amount of MCU content that will be hidden due to parental restrictions.
