Jacob Batalon Talks Ned Leeds and the Hobgoblin
The record-breaking success that was Spider-Man: No Way Home left nothing but uncertainty as the character’s MCU saga moves forward; one of the film’s stars, Jacob Batalon, talks about his character Ned Leeds, and his potential future as the Hobgoblin.
There are few films that so perfectly capture the essence of what makes a character transcendent great as was done by Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The film celebrated what makes Peter Parker the most popular and adored comic book creation in the history of the genre, and honored his twenty-year presence on the big screen .
Tom Holland perhaps gave fans the greatest Peter Parker that cinemas has ever witnessed, and did so while bringing to life the entity of Spider-Man in a way that had never been done.
Spider-Man: No Way Home stands as a tentpole film for the MCU, with its introduction of the multiverse, and continued development narrative for Tom Hollands Peter Parker leading it to be one of Marvel Studios’ most important films.
It wasn’t just for Peter that the film was so important, however, as it seems anyone who was close to him was exponentially impacted by the decision that conclude the film.
None more so than MJ and Ned Leeds, his two best friends in the film’s first three films.
In a recent interview with Variety, Jacob Batalon talked Ned Leeds, and his potential villainous future as the Hobgoblin, while also explaining the great hindrance of working with Marvel being the difficulty in not spoiler things that have not yet been.
Asked about a hobgoblin-filled future for NEd, Batalon stated, “From all my years working for Marvel, I feel like I’ve learned to just not say anything. I can’t really speak on things and then say something that might actually be true and then I ruin something, you know what I mean?”
With Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo recently divulging the reality that the MCU doesn’t act by a set plan, it makes sense that Batalon doesn’t want to tempt the uncertainty of his character’s fate.
