Marvel Legends Celebrates 20 Years of Apocalypse!
The X-Men have faced numerous dastardly enemies throughout their almost 60-year history, but perhaps none as powerful or more intimidating than Apocalypse! Now Marvel Legends is celebrating 20 years of Apocalypse terrorizing the X-Men with a special Retro Marvel Legend!
Marvel Legends has released previous Retro Marvel Legends figures featuring everyone’s favorite X-Men and their villains. Each figure has specialized retro packaging reminiscent of the Uncanny X-Men line of figures that were released in the early 90s. The blister packaging adds an awesome vintage feel that collectors will love!
20 Years of Apocalypse began in X-Factor #5 (1986) when Apocalypse gathered a group of mutants to lead the Alliance of Evil and battle against the X-Factor. The alliance was ultimately defeated, and Apocalypse abandoned them. While this first showing was far from spectacular, Apocalypse would go on to create the New 4 Horsemen.
These horsemen would even include one of the X-Men’s oldest allies Angel, who was warped into a technological monstrosity of his former self. He would fight the various mutant teams over the years, but perhaps Apocalypse’s greatest story is that of Age of Apocalypse, wherein an alternate dystopian timeline Apocalypse ruled all.
The special 20th anniversary Apocalypse is a hulking beast of a figure standing 6-inches tall and affixed with multiple points of articulation that enable the fan or collector to pose Apocalypse in whatever way they wish. Pose him against his greatest foes the X-Men or make him stand-alone, the articulation on this figure allows for it all!
Apocalypse is donning his classic Celestial suit that is done in a vibrant blue and purple-grey color scheme, with amazing detail that replicates Apocalypse’s appearance in the classic X-Men Comics. Tubes connect from his back to his forearms depicting a potential trade of energy as Apocalypse faces his foes.
The figure also comes equipped with multiple accessories. Two different head sculpts include a toothy menacing scowl most often associated with En Sabah Nur, with the second head sculpt a much more sternly somber expression. Both heads sculpts feature Apocalypse’s trademark blue lines that run from his head to his mouth.
Additionally, accessories include interchangeable open and close-fisted hands. Further accessories include a wrist-mounted blaster and also particle energy accessories to help emulate Apocalypse expelling energy from his blaster.
This amazing figure is currently available for pre-order at various online retailers! While Apocalypse’s most recent appearance saw him as the primary antagonist of the Dark Ages storyline, we cannot wait for En Sabah Nur to continue his terrorizing of the Marvel universe!
While we celebrate 20 years of Apocalypse, we cannot wait for many more!
