Christian Bale Talks Gorr’s New Look in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’
There are few arrivals in the marvel Cinematic Universe that are as exciting as the upcoming arrival of the main villain of the upcoming fourth Thor solo film; with many fans curious about his different appearance, Christian Bale talks about Gorr’s new look for Thor: Love and Thunder.
He is a character introduced during Jason Aaron’s iconic and beloved Thor run, and one that quickly became among the most intriguing and compelling villains that the Marvel comics universe has introduced.
An entity that is driven by his anger at the circumstances that he had to overcome in his life, Gorr develops a deep hatred for the gods following how his faith in them led to the death of his entire family and the near extinction of his home planet.
A villain that is one of the most sympathetic and interesting, and has been among the MCU’s most hyped based on comments by the film’s director Taika Waititi, there are few performers more equipped to bring the villain to life than veteran actor Christian Bale.
Amidst the excitement from fans on the arrival of the villain in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, there were many fans who were uncertain about the alterations to his signature appearing in the comic books.
In a recent interview, Christian Bale talks about Gorr’s new look in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, and why they had no choice but to change his appearance.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Bale stated, “I was coming off of a film where it had been necessary to be sort of rather lacking in muscle, And then I saw images and thought, ‘Well, that’s not gonna be possible… and this g-string thing that going on there.'”
The actor added, “He looked in the comic books like physically, you know, someone to reckon with though. And I said, ‘Well, you know, that just not gonna be possible in the state I’m in.'”
“And we literally have three days between me finishing one film and heading over to Australia for the quarantine and whatnot.” Bale continued, “I like to usually have much more time in between, but the pandemic meant that things got worked out that way.”
Bale concluded, stating, “So we said, ‘All right, no, we’ll go with the supernatural powers that he does have, that he gets from the Necrosword, et cetera,’ which I think works really effectively.”
If there is one thing we had to be the most excited about for the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder it is to see what Christian Bale does with the iconic Gorr the God Butcher.
