Why Thor is Destined to be the MCU’s Greatest Creation
There is no denying the impact that Chris Hemsworth’s Marvel hero has had on the universe since his arrival in 2011, but with the revitalization of the character’s franchise, he doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon; which is why Thor is destined to be the MCU’s Greatest Creation.
The vast and ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe is incomparable in its scale, commitment to world-building, and unmatched crossover films that display some of Marvel comics’ most iconic characters and take on some of the universe’s most dangerous threats.
One of the coolest things about a film universe of different franchises that is so big is the number of characters that there are, and how every single person, no matter their background, race, religion, or anything else, can find one that they so adore.
There was a time when- if asked who was their favorite character- most Marvel fans would say one of two names; Tony Stark’s Iron Man, or Steve Roger’s Captain America.
With 29 films behind the MCU, both of those characters are no more in the continually evolving Marvel Universe, but they still boast a character arc and story that is so grand, so thoroughly explored, that they still are among the best to ever be crafted by Marvel Studios.
Yet, with Thor: Love and Thunder representing a look at the character just hitting his stride, we truly believe that Thor is destined to be the MCU’s greatest creation.
Thor is easily among the most beloved Marvel heroes of the current line-up, but many often forget that the hero had a very difficult time overcoming some very clear shortcomings in his earlier works.
2011’s Thor was one of the worst origin films to that point, debuting to a reception that didn’t feel on par with Captain America and Iron Man’s origin films; and things got a lot worse with the arrival of 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, that is maybe the poorest received Marvel film ever.
In Thor: Ragnarok, the character was revitalized in what felt like a fresh start, and in Thor: Love and Thunder it feels as though the character is where Captain America was following The Winter Soldier, or where Tony Stark was after Iron Man 2.
These were pivotal entries into their series and presented versions of the characters that were just hitting their stride, primed to become some of the most iconic in the history of the MCU.
With Thor, his stride is coming in his record-setting fourth solo film and following a tremendous performance that made him one of the most interesting characters in the final two installments of the Infinity Saga.
It is why it feels as though Thor is destined to one day be the MCU’s greatest creation
