Ethan Hawke Reportedly Signed NDA on Length of Marvel Contract
He was one of the bright spots of what is- in our opinion- one of the best MCU Disney+ projects to date, and with many fans clamoring for when he could return next, it turns out that the Moon Knight star, Ethan Hawke, has reportedly signed an NDA on the length of his Marvel contract.
When the series was first announced, many fans were skeptical about what could come from the MCU’s exploration into what is one of the most enigmatic characters that Marvel comic has ever created.
Yet, what was their riskiest endeavor has paid off massively, as it introduced what is one of our favorite MCU projects to date, and brought a real levity to what has been a massively inconsistent Phase Four so far.
It introduces one of the best characters that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has explored, and did so by tackling issues of child abuse and mental illness in a way that felt tremendously truthful, and yet maintained the vibrance of what we would expect from a Marvel project.
One of the bright spots of the series outside of just Oscar Isaac’s Steven Grant and Marc Spector was the villain, Arthur Harrow, who brilliantly brought a menacing and unnerving quality to the mastermind that had been created for the seires.
With how good the character was, there were many who wondered if this was, truly, the last we’ve seen of Harrow; in a recent interview, the man himself was asked if he could make a return, to which Ethan Hawke revealed that he reportedly signed an NDA on the length of his Marvel contract.
Speaking to IndieWire, Hawke stated, “I’m not supposed to talk about it. I had to sign an NDA about dealing with them, but I’m not interested in long-term commitments. I protected myself because I didn’t know what it was going to be. I just wanted to know what the sandbox was like.”
Hawke added, “And it’s what young people are watching, so why are we going to sit there and tell them it’s not good?”
It is interesting to consider that Marvel is introducing NDAs so that the public cant be made aware of the lengths of the contract, and it doesn’t feel like a misplaced document considering how much it has been made a public spectacle of contract lengths.
