Tom Holland Reportedly Won’t Return for ‘Spider-Man: Freshman Year’
He has become synonymous with the role, and may well be the best Peter Parker that we have ever seen on the big screen, but it has recently been reported that Tom Holland won’t return for the role of the character in Spider-Man: Freshman Year.
There is no denying the adoration fans have for the current Spider-Man of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Tom Holland has become perhaps the most popular Marvel hero of the vast and ever-expanding film universe.
One of the most popular young actors on the planet, there may not be a young actor who so perfectly encapsulates the character as well as Holland does, and has been doing since he first flipped onto the scene in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.
The last appearing as the iconic character in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home- one of the most popular Spider-Man adoptions in the history of the industry, and a film that acted as a love letter to the character of Peter Parker- many have wondered when the actor will next take on the role.
It turns out that his return may be a bit delayed, Tom Holland is reportedly not returning to the role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Freshman Year; the animated anthology series that will tell one of the most interesting Spider-Man stories never told.
It was originally reported by The Illuminerdi, who noted that Holland won’t be partaking in the series, with The character of the MCU’s Peter Parker rumored to be played by Hudson Thames instead; the voice actor who portrayed the character in MArvels What If…? series.
Thames did an exceptional job in the role, and brilliantly encapsulated a lot of what Holland brought to the character,r which makes his participation, not something for fans to be unhappy with, although it certainly would have been fantastic to see Holland take the character on this journey.
Spider-MAn: Freshman Year is among the most interesting Animated projects coming from Marvel Studios this year, and we can’t wait to uncover the character’s untold history.
