Marvel Celebrates Local Comic Shop Day With Two Spider-Man Variant Covers
Celebrating both comic book shops and the iconic Marvel hero’s 60th birthday, Marvel has recently released two Spider-Man variant covers.
Throughout the massive pantheon of comic book creations, there may be none that can stand the test of time the way that Spider-Man has.
For six decades, the Stan Lee creation has been one of the most popular and beloved characters to ever make their way to shelves; standing as one of the greatest creations in the history of the medium.
Peter Parker truly changed everything for Comics, as he presented an entirely different dynamic from what readers had grown accustomed to from their superheroes.
Instead of Parker Spider-Man being a larger-than-life persona who spent more time-fighting supervillains than bad bosses, it was Peter Parker who reminded us that these incredible heroes are capable of overcoming the same mundane problems that all of us encounter.
There was an instant connection between readers and Spider-Man, and that has lasted, and thrived, from the day he made his debut in Amazing Fantasy #15 to today.
And now, Marvel is celebrating Local Comic Shop day by bringing us two Spider-Man variant covers in conjunction with the character’s 60th anniversary.
The eighth annual Local Comic Book Shop Day is arriving on November 23rd, and Marvel has celebrated with these beautiful covers that will be available in retailers across the country.
Local Comic Shop Day returns with ComicsPRO, and Marvel's bringing you two variant covers in honor of the 60th anniversary of Spider-Man. Be there when 'Amazing Spider-Man' #13 and 'Spider-Man' #2 drop on November 23! https://t.co/jMMmTGMZZA pic.twitter.com/tZMXmC2aLT

The event is organized by ComicsPRO, the comic book industry’s trade organization, to bring recognition and applause to local comic book shops; encouraging comic book readers to do their part in supporting their continued business in the very harsh modern economy.
In a press release on the announcement, Marvel stated, “In honor of the 60th Anniversary of Spider-Man, they’ll grace the covers of Novembers issues of both Spider-Man’s current ongoing series: Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr.’s The Amazing Spider-Man and Dan Slott and Mark Bagley’s Spider-Man.”
It continued, “Drawn by acclaimed artist Francesco Mobili, these dramatic pinups showcase everyone’s favorite web slingers- Peter Parker and Miles Morales.”
