Marvel Teases a Future For Channing Tatum’s Gambit in New ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Deleted Scene
While Channing Tatum finally got to live out his dream and play Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, the fate of the fan-favorite mutant was left unclear.
The last the audience saw of Gambit, he had successfully helped storm Cassandra Nova’s fortress and watched as Deadpool and Wolverine returned to their own universe. What happened after that remained a mystery.

Gambit’s Return Is Teased in a New Deleted Scene
In a new deleted scene shared by Ryan Reynolds on social media, however, Gambit is shown having escaped from the Void. The key to getting Gambit home can be seen in the reflection of the mutant’s eyes—an inter-dimensional portal (or “Marvel spark circle,” as Deadpool calls them).
While the deleted scene does not clarify whether Gambit returned to his home universe or a different corner of the multiverse, it does lend credence to the idea that we could see Tatum return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Though it is unlikely that Marvel will commission a solo Gambit film at this point, with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon, there is ample opportunity for the mutant to return.
Tatum Has Remained Hopeful
For his part, Tatum has remained hopeful that his story as Gambit has not come to an end. Following the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, he also thanked Ryan Reynolds for making his long-lingering dream come true.

“I thought I had lost Gambit forever. But [Reynolds] fought for me and Gambit,” he wrote. “I will owe him probably forever. Cause I’m not sure how I could ever do something that would be equal to what this has meant to me. I love ya buddy…I’m so grateful to be in this movie. It’s a masterpiece in my opinion. And just pure bad ass joy. I was literally screaming in the theater.”
