Marvel Exec Brad Winderbaum Previews Riri Williams’ Journey in ‘Ironheart’
After months of speculation that the series had perhaps been canceled, Marvel Studios confirmed earlier this year that Ironheart will indeed debut on Disney+ next year.
A sequel to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ironheart will continue the story of Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams as she returns from MIT to her hometown of Chicago with her iron suit in hand. There, she begins to unravel threads that bring danger and adventure right to her doorstep.

While we now know that Riri Williams’ story will continue, much of Ironheart’s plot has been kept under wraps.
Brad Winderbaum Talks ‘Ironheart’
In a recent interview with ABC13 at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, Bard Winderbaum, Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, shed some light on the upcoming series.

According to Winderbaum, part of the appeal of Ironheart will be watching Riri Williams grow and learn.
“What makes her interesting is that she’s not perfect, right?” he said. “She makes mistakes. And she makes some mistakes at the beginning of this story that she has got to solve by the end of the series.”

As Winderbaum correctly points out, Ironheart has become a fan-favorite character because of her intellect and her relative naivete in the world of superheroes. Soon, Thorne will get the chance to flesh her character out.
When Will ‘Ironheart’ Debut?
In addition to Thorne, Ironheart will star Anthony Ramos, Alden Ehrenreich, Lyric Rosss, Matthew James Elam, Anji White, and Sachsa Baron Cohen.

The series is expected to arrive in September 2025.
