Vincent D’Onofrio Confirms That the First ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Trailer Has Been Delayed
With less than two months until the show arrives on Disney+, Marvel Studios has yet to release a trailer for Daredevil: Born Again.
For those who haven’t been paying attention, Daredevil: Born Again was initially announced at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, with the expectation that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio would reprise their respective roles as Daredevil and Kingpin from the Daredevil series that ran on Netflix from 2015 until 2018.
At the time, Marvel Studios planned on putting their own spin on the characters and differentiating the series from the original Netflix show.
The Creative Overhaul
Everything changed, however, during the 2023 Hollywood strikes when production on Dardevil: Born Again was shut down. Given time to review the completed episodes, Kevin Feige and his team quickly determined that the series was not working.
Eventually, Marvel decided to overhaul Daredevil: Born Again and tie the show into the Netflix series.
“It had been conceived as more of a legal procedural. And we really brought it back towards an action-based New York crime story,” showrunner Dario Scardapane explained to EW. “The real trick was to have the DNA of the old Netflix show. But then push it forward into something very new.”
Anticipation has Been Building
With the decision to lean into the Netflix series and the revelation that many of the show’s stars would return, Daredevil: Born Again quickly became one of the most-anticipated Marvel series.
As fans eagerly await the debut of Daredevil: Born Again, there has been growing concern that a trailer for the series has yet to be released.
Why the Delay?
Replying to a fan on X, Vincent D’Onofrio revealed that the trailer has indeed been delayed, but for a good reason.
“Postponed because of L.A. fires,” D’Onofrio wrote in his response. “It’s coming.”
As Los Angeles continues to be ravaged by wildfires, it seems Marvel determined that the timing was not right to release the first Daredevil: Born Again trailer.
By the sound of things, however, they won’t have to wait long.
