Charlie Cox Talks ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ and Matt Murdock’s Marvel Future

As Charlie Cox prepares to suit back up as The Man Without Fear for Daredevil: Born Again, it doesn’t sound like the actor wants to hang up his mask anytime soon.

The last time we checked in, Cox had told the audience at FAN EXPO San Francisco that he would continue to play Matt Murdock for as long as he could, even noting that Marvel had recently released a comic that showed Daredevil in his 60s.

Now, Cox is previewing his more immediate future.

“I Feel Rejuvenated”

In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, Charlie Cox explained that he feels rejuvenated stepping back into the role of Daredevil.

“I feel rejuvenated and lucky and blessed that I’m still being given the opportunity to play this character,” Cox said.

“You so rarely get to do such a varied palette of tasks as an actor. I get all of this cool stuff as a lawyer, I get emotional scenes with various love interests, and then I get to wear an awesome superhero costume and jump off rooftops. I love all of it.”

As Cox enters his second decade of playing Matt Murdock, the actor teased that he has never been more excited about the character.

“Normally, when you go into your tenth year playing a character, you’re winding down, but we’re going the other way,” the actor joked. “It would be interesting to know what gives up first, Marvel’s faith in us or our bodies!”

Will Daredevil Join the Avengers?

While the original Daredevil series was ostensibly part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Matt Murdoch and Defenders cohorts were largely kept at bay.

Cox’s appearance as Daredevil in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law then served as the character’s introduction to the broader MCU. Now that Daredevil: Born Again is on the horizon, it sounds like The Man Without Fear may play a more prominent role in Marvel’s overarching story.

When asked, for example, if Daredevil will suit up alongside the Avengers, Cox played coy.

“That would be awesome,” he said.
