A Grammy-Winning Musician Has Revealed That He Was Supposed to Score ‘Blade’
When Marvel Studios initially announced that a Blade film was in development, the project looked like a sure-fire hit.
At the time, Marvel was coming off its triumph with Avengers: Endgame and sat alone at the top of the pop culture hierarchy. Additionally, the studio had reached an agreement with The Green Book star Mahershala Ali to portray the iconic daywalker in the MCU.

Since Blade was announced, however, production on the film has been plagued by difficulties. It has now been nearly six years since fans were promised a Blade adventure, and the film is seemingly no closer to hitting theaters than when we began.
A Disastrous Production
Over the past several years, Blade has cycled through six screenwriters and is still searching for its third director. As of this writing, the film is not on any Disney release calendar.

While both Marvel and Ali have been adamant that Blade is still in active production, many fans have given up hope that the film will ever make it to theaters.
As it turns out, much of the creative talent attached to Blade also has their doubts.
Earlier this week, Delroy Lindo reflected on the disastrous production of Blade, declaring that “it just went off the rails.”

Now, Grammy-winning musician Flying Lotus has chimed in.
Flying Lotus Was Supposed to Score ‘Blade’
In a recent post on X, Flying Lotus revealed that he had initially signed on to score Blade. While the musician was originally excited about the prospect, he clearly is not optimistic about the film’s future.
“I guess we are so far from it even being a possibility now but. Yeah I was signed on to write music for the new BLADE movie before it fell thru,” Flying Lotus wrote. “Maybe it’ll come around again but I doubt it. Would have been fun tho.”

Flying Lotus’s new album is called You’re Dead!
As Flying Lotus points out, there is still a chance that Blade will eventually come to fruition. With Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars on the horizon, however, it will likely be years until we see the film. That is, if it ever gets made.
