Mahershala Ali Still Wants To Make ‘Blade’
When Marvel Studios announced that a new Blade film was in development, with Mahershala Ali set to play the titular anti-hero, the movie sounded like an unstoppable success.
At the time, Marvel was coming off the historic releases of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Doomsday, while Ali had skyrocketed to fame with The Green Book.
Since Blade was announced, however, production on the film has been an abject disaster. Over the last five years, the film has been delayed three times, gone through six different screenwriters, and is currently looking for its third director.
Late last year, the film was removed from Marvel’s release calendar.
Marvel Remains Committed to the Film
Despite these setbacks, both Kevin Feige and Ali have reportedly remained committed to getting the film made.

Ali, however, has not publicly commented on the film’s status. Until yesterday.

At the New York Premiere of Jurassic World Rebirth, Ali was asked about Blade.
“Call Marvel,” he said. “I’m ready. Let them know I’m ready.”

While it sounds like Ali is still willing to make Blade, unfortunately, there has not been much movement in that direction.
At this point, if the film makes it to theaters, it would be nothing short of a miracle. Hopefully, however, we learn more soon.
