Jeremy Renner Is Ready to Play Hawkeye Again – “There’s So Much For Us To Do”
Earlier this year, Jeremy Renner shocked the Marvel world when he revealed that he had rejected an offer to reprise his iconic role as Clint Barton in a second season of Hawkeye.
Marvel, Renner explained, was interested in continuing Hawkeye’s story; however, they wanted the actor to take a 50% pay cut.

“They asked me to do Season 2, and they offered me half the money. I’m like, ‘Well, it’s going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money, and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount,’” he said.
It Was Assumed ‘Hawkeye’ Would Continue
Renner’s revelation was particularly interesting as Hawkeye had long been seen as one of the Disney+ series most likely to receive a second season.

Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of streaming, had even publicly announced that the studio wanted more Hawkeye.
Although Renner was obviously insulted by the offer, he made it clear that he would be open to playing Clint again. He even tried to give Marvel the benefit of the doubt.

“This is not Marvel, mind you. This is like, just Disney, not even really Disney. It’s just the penny pinchers, the accountants. I told them to go fly a kite. I mean, just at the insult offer. So we didn’t see eye to eye on it,” he continued.
While it looked like Hawkeye Season 2 would not come to fruition, Renners subsequently gave fans new hope.

Now, the actor is speaking up again.
“There’s So Much More For Us to Do”
During a recent appearance at Florida Supercon, Renner was asked if he would suit up again as Hawkeye. The actor admitted that he would love to.

“It was great to dive more into the character a bit, in a world that’s more grounded,” he said (via Popverse).
“To me, it was a lot more fun to do and more to explore for the character, which is nice. I always wanted to do more of that stuff, and there’s the incident that happened, and I have to get my body in shape to be able to sling arrows again and dive around and do all that stuff, but I’ll get there. I’m doing good.”
Despite Marvel’s reported offer to Renner earlier this year, the actor remains adamant that he would be happy to continue working with the studio.
“I’ll always dance with Marvel. I’ll always dance with them for sure when appropriate, when it’s rocking,” he continued, “I’m happy to do season two of Hawkeye. I love that character. I think there’s so much for us to do.”
Finally, Renner says that when the time comes, if the fans still want him, he will be ready to suit up.

“It’s getting my body right and getting everything right for that. The timing of that will come, and if there’s still a need, want, and desire for it, then yeah.”
By the sound of things, we might get a Hawkeye Season 2 after all.
